Champs Meet- Thursday 04/19/2018 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Date published: Apr 19, 2018

Champ Camp had the privilege of hosting two amazing speakers for the April session, Leah Hanrion and Wayne Cooper. Our first speaker, Leah Hanrion, shared her personal story and what she has learned through her career. Currently, she works a Financial Services Professional in Charlotte. She stressed the importance of having a positive mindset. A technique she uses to stay optimistic is beginning every morning by thinking of ten things she is grateful for.  In becoming successful, she followed the model of the three I’s.

Impact- improving client’s lives through one’s work

Independence - building the perfectly tailored business model for one’s own success

Income - receiving opportunities and monetary reward for a strong work ethic

Ms. Hanrion also provided valuable advice to anyone interested in business. It included updated licensing and credentials, strong networking, established personal brand and being educated on successful people of an industry you are interested in.

Our second speaker, Wayne Cooper, an international businessman between Mexico and America for over fifty years, shared his fascinating life story and lessons, including several notable quotes. Mr. Cooper spoke on the importance of pursuing a career in something you love and finding a mentor who can guide you to success. He also recognized the need to develop a reputation where people can depend on you. Cooper shared several quotes that everyone was encouraged to write down and reflect upon.

“Heat and pressure makes iron into fine steel.”

“Fishing is best in troubled waters.”

“Don’t dress where you are at, dress where you want to be.”

“People who succeed never have excuses.”

We ended the night with an important quote from Mr. Usmani, “If you do not have the courage to fail, you have no right to succeed.” Our soft skills for the night included comparing good versus bad business mannerisms. Students then performed skits demonstrating the difference between them. Great job to everyone who attended!
