The Champ Camp Leadership Council met for its first meeting of the 2021 -2022 school year today. Our first speaker was Rick Scott VP of Cybersecurity at Bank of America. He has worked for Bank of America for 19 years. He has worked for the Charlotte Fintech initiative and at the World Economic Forum to end Cyber Crime. He has further worked with the Superintendent of CMS to combat cybercrime. He has two patents. He has worked with the community through Bank of America and is encouraged to be innovative. He works with partnerships in UK and Ireland and Singapore.
Alexis Gordon was the second speaker and is the Chief Protocol officer with the City of Charlotte. She has a Master's degree in international relations. She says Diplomacy is the Public Relations of different countries. She says it is also making sure people know what is going on in that country. She talked about concepts like the Two-track diplomacy of organizations like Samaritans Feet. Glocalization is conducting business according to global and local perspectives. What is Culture? It is the norms and values of your society. She recommended that the students study abroad if they get the chance.
The soft skill exercise was from the World economic forum. We talked about concepts like :
Communication: taking other people’s feedback into account.
Integrity: is being honest about your work and others work or contribution
Drive: going above and beyond expectations
Focus: a specific skill. In covid, the students said it was easy to procrastinate
Balance: work-life balance is hard to achieve but essential to a healthy lifestyle.
Next month: October 14th we will talk about Emotional intelligence.
